The Cromer Crab Company today announced its sponsorship of the inaugural Cromer and Sheringham Crab and Lobster Festival, a celebration of food and drink, heritage and art spanning North Norfolk’s two premier seaside towns which will be held in May next year.
Part of The Seafood Company, The Cromer Crab Company has signed a deal worth £12,000 as the major sponsor of what is set to be one of the highlights of Norfolk’s calendar in 2010. In Cromer and Sheringham, crab and lobster fishing provides direct employment to hundreds of people and indirectly for thousands more through the tourist industry.
Mike Grey, Managing Director of The Cromer Crab Company, was delighted to get involved:
“The Cromer and Sheringham Crab and Lobster Festival is an ideal opportunity for us to not only support what is a fantastic community event but also celebrate the heritage of the crab and lobster industry in Norfolk, of which we have been an integral part for nearly 30 years.
“We are looking forward to working with the festival organisers to create a truly enjoyable and memorable event for all ages and we hope this will be the first of many festivals celebrating the unique and unrivalled offering of the North Norfolk coast.”
The Cromer and Sheringham Crab and Lobster Festival will take place from 21 to 23 May 2010; full details of the festival programme will be revealed at its official launch on 12 October.
The Cromer Crab Company is owned by The Seafood Company, the UK’s largest and fastest growing seafood company. The largest private employer in Cromer, employing between 270 and 400 staff depending on seasonal peaks, it supplies a wide range of chilled shellfish products including crabs, lobsters, prawns and mussels to UK retailers.
